Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores along with Pinnacle Health, Capital BlueCross and the American Diabetes Association is hosting “Living with Diabetes,” a fun and interactive health and education fair for those with diabetes and their families. This free event is Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Center at the GIANT Super Food Store located at 2300 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg.
“More than 25 million people in the United States today have diabetes and 79 million have prediabetes,” said Sarah Glunz, in-store nutritionist at GIANT. “We encourage both those who have already been diagnosed with diabetes and those trying to prevent it to attend our health fair and learn how they can take control of the disease by eating properly, exercising and living an overall healthy lifestyle.”
The event features free health screenings provided by PinnacleHealth, weight-bearing exercise by Capital BlueCross, Soul Line Dancing by Delta Sigma Theta, a healthy cooking demo by Camp Hill GIANT cooking school coordinator Kathy Wickert and nutritional shopping tips from Glunz.
An expert panel will also be on hand from 1 – 2 p.m. to answer questions on learning how to prevent or manage diabetes and live a full, active and healthy lifestyle. Panelists include:
