Manchester, PA Giant Food Stores today announced that the doors of its newest location at 305 Glen Drive in Manchester will open on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. This newly-built 59,100 square foot store will replace the existing Giant at 4215 N. George Street. This location will close for business on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m.

Pete Vasali has been appointed store manager of the new Giant Food Store, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will significantly increase the number of full and part-time associates from 100 to approximately 175.

'At Giant, our goal is to offer our shoppers the very best combination of quality, selection and savings," said Vasali. "Customers will find the same selection and value they have come to expect from us, but with expanded departments and exciting new amenities, including an on-site fueling station."

Vasali is a 25-year veteran with Giant Food Stores having served most recently as store manager of the existing Manchester Giant. Vasali got his start with the company on the truck crew and worked his way up through the ranks to his current position.

On-Site Fuel

Customer will find gas savings at convenient on-site fuel pumps right outside of the new Giant. The fuel station contains a Pay-at-the-Pump feature and a variety of automotive and convenience items. Manchester customers can save money when they fill up their gas tank with Gas Extra Rewards. Customers will receive 10 cents off per gallon of gas for every $100 spent at any Giant location using a BonusCard during promotion periods.

Health and Beauty Savings

Emphasizing Giant's commitment to health and wellness, customers will find a deep assortment of natural and organic products in a dedicated section called the Nature's Promise Marketplace, which will include more than 2,500 frozen, dairy, grocery and special diet selections.

Your Neighborhood Drugstore at Giant features a soothing decor that offers the effect of shopping in a specialty store for all of a customer's health and beauty needs at prices that are 15 to 20 percent lower than conventional drug stores. Energy-Saving Features

The newest Giant Food Stores has been constructed with innovative building technologies to reduce energy consumption and the environmental impact of operations.

Skylights have been installed to reduce electricity consumption during peak daylight hours and LED lighting is used in many areas of the store, including overhead track lights, exterior store signs and in the frozen food cases. LED lights are longer-lasting and are expected to reduce wattage by half.

Customer-Friendly Technology

With a number of new features and products at Giant, customers can find just what they are looking for at one of the award-winning Shopping Solutions kiosks found throughout the store. By using the interactive touch-screen, customers can check out personalized BonusCard savings offers, locate an item in the store, and even place a Deli or Great Entertaining party tray order.
