GIANT & MARTIN'S MAKE LOCATING ORGANIC PRODUCTS THROUGHOUT THE STORE EVEN EASIER

Just look for the leaf!

Carlisle, PA - Recognizing the booming demand for natural and organic products, Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets introduced their Nature's Promise store brand over three years ago. Since then they have offered customers a selection of high-quality products at a price they can afford. Now, customers will be able to find their organic products even easier by looking for the leaf! All Giant and Martin's stores have introduced purple shelf tags that feature a leaf graphic, located by almost every organic product throughout the store, including the Nature's Promise brand.

Only USDA certified organic products will be labeled with the new shelf tags. Most areas of the store, including Giant/Martin's own Nature's Promise Marketplace will receive this new signage. Produce, however will continue to utilize various overhead signs as well as shelf strips and section dividers to call out organic variety.

"By drawing more attention to the wide array of organic items across our perishable and non-perishable departments with this new symbol allows for a total store solution to meet our customers' lifestyle needs and growing food trends," said Denny Hopkins, vice president of advertising and marketing, Giant Food Stores. "In addition to the new signage, we also continue our commitment to natural and organic products and plan to expand the Nature's Promise Marketplace store count to approximately 90 locations by the end of this year."

Customers with questions about the new signage or an organic product can ask a natural and organic associate at their local Giant or Martin's. These associates have undergone an all day training session to learn about store policies, merchandising, customer service and product nutrition information and passed a test on this content to be certified. In addition, each associate must attend at least one continuing education session each year to maintain certification.

Since 1993, Giant has carried organic products at its stores and today continues to partner with the best suppliers for the quantity and quality customers expect. Many stores also feature Nature's Promise Marketplace offering more than 3,500 natural and organic versions of almost every product category in the store, including Giant's own brand Nature's Promise. In 2006, Giant introduced Nature's Promise meats, an expanded product line that includes fresh, all natural USDA Choice beef, government-inspected pork and Grade A fresh chicken.
